SUPPORTING SEPSIS EDUCATION

The ACART project

The ACART project is an international collaboration between researchers, academics and clinicians from the University of Washington and the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal to offer front-line sepsis training to primary health care nursing and medical practitioners.

The program co-ordinators recognise that sepsis is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in South Africa and have imported this training system to ensure that patients with sepsis are identified early, managed appropriately and referred accordingly.

This site also offers on-going support to those who have already undergone the ACART training.

Our material has been developed and tested based on informed best evidence, but if there is anything that you feel should be reviewed, please contact us.

We are looking at ways of expanding the reach of the training. If you feel that you can assist with the training, please contact us.

Our vision is to see every front line health care worker in South Africa trained to recognise sepsis, and to provide essential sepsis care quickly.
